The thesis

The strongest businesses are the ones the world is required to keep buying from.

Codes, insurers and regulators create demand that does not answer to a cycle, a campaign or a quarter. Inspection, certification, monitoring, compliance — unglamorous work, mandated by law, renewed every year, and almost never won away.

We buy a small number of these businesses. We hold them. Ownership changes; the business does not.

What we acquire

Recurring revenue is the point. Almost everything else is negotiable.

The businesses we want bill the same customers again next year because a code, an insurer or a signed contract requires it. That is the filter. Size, structure and footprint all bend around it — including how many locations you run.

Where we focus

Inspection & certification

Backflow, fire and life-safety, cranes and hoists, elevators, labs, calibration and NDT. Work a code requires, on a cycle nobody gets to skip.

Commercial contracts

Contracted service across commercial, industrial, institutional and municipal accounts. Revenue that renews on a schedule rather than a sales cycle.

Specialty services

Narrow technical trades with licensed crews, few credible competitors, and pricing power that was earned rather than advertised.

Earnings: $800K – $3M of EBITDA or SDE
Recurring: 70%+ contracted, mandated or genuinely repeat — and the more the better
Retention: 90%+, with no single customer above ~15%
Locations: One site or many. Multi-location and multi-region are welcome.
Team: 5 – 40 people who stay, led by an owner ready to step back
Structure: Committed equity and SBA debt. Nationwide.

Not a fit: new construction and project work, turnarounds, consumer discretionary, or anything that requires us to hold the licence and swing the wrench.

Altitude is the holding company of a group of founders who have built, scaled and sold four technology companies, assembled a portfolio of more than thirty properties, and backed more than fifty artificial-intelligence companies as private investors.

The capital is committed and it is our own. There is no fund, no investment committee, and no clock.
